We didn't eat a lot of fast food when I was a kid, but on road trips we would almost always stop at a Sonic. My dad's regular order would be a chicken fried steak sandwich. Eventually I started ordering them, too. A few years back I rediscovered Sonic and would very occasionally treat myself to a steak sandwich and a strawberry flurry.
Then Sonic started to mess with their menu. The flurries are now called blended floats. In the last year or so, they moved the steak sandwich to the Toaster Sandwich section. When we stopped tonight to pick up some dinner, it was gone entirely. I tried to order it anyway, but to no avail.
I really have never cared for their burgers. I guess that I'll still buy a chili dog now and then. But this kind of reduces Sonic to a drink stop in my mind and not a place for food. I can imagine their two goofy spokesguys trying to order a steak sandwich, dissing the place, and driving to Good Time Charlie's.
