FIFA World Cup 2006 - Day 6

Spain :: Ukraine
ESPN2 & Univision @ 8a
These two teams are the quality of Group H. Spain have a legacy of great teams on paper that always fall apart on the field. Appearing in eleven of the seventeen previous tournaments, they have never gotten past the quarter-finals. If this is finally their time, then they have their best test of the group stages in this game. Ukraine are in their first World cup but boast renowned striker Andriy Shevchenko, who, in the wake of Italian scandal, is finally willing to take millions of Roman Abromovich's pounds for the move to Chelsea this summer. Since I don't actually know what I'm talking about nor is there any investment of mine riding on this prediction, I'm going out of line and calling an upset. The bookies would pay me 17 to 1 if the exact scoreline below came true. Seeing as how not one of the fourteen I've predicted so far was right, I could stand to hit one.
My guess: Spain 1 - 2 Ukraine   SPA 4 - 0 UKR

Tunisia :: Saudi Arabia
ESPN2 & Univision @ 11a
Hey, I can take a lunch at somewhere without a televsion! If this turns out to be a great game, I'm glad for those who bought a ticket. I'm just not terribly interested.
My guess: Tunisia 2 - 0 Saudi Arabia   TUN 2 - 2 KSA

Legend: (Points in Group | Goal Difference in Group)

Germany (3 | 2) :: Poland (0 | -2)
ESPN2 & Univision @ 2p
So we're back around to Group A. After the somewhat unlucky loss to Ecuador, Poland must get a point to keep alive hopes of advancing. Good luck. Germany's offside trap can be sprung, as Costa Rica twice proved, but the hosts also found the net four times. The Poles may slow up Germany, but counters aren't their game.
My guess: Germany 2 - 0 Poland   GER 1 - 0 POL
